The design for the book cover was to convey the masterly, dynamism, and compelling style of the well-known author Andrea Kane. The picture had to truly be worth “a thousand words.” At the same time, the design was to be simple yet needed to stand out on a shelf among the other books.
It was a bold decision to go with an all bright “bloody” red background – while brainstorming we all agreed that it would be the best way to express the essence of the book – suspense, tension and vigor. The frightened girl’s silhouette and the gun reveal some aspects of the plot and the mismatched, “wavering” letters around the gun foreshadow the intensity of the story.
